Method:

  • What is explicit analysis?

structural analysis is divided into two part linear and non-linear, again the non-linear part is divided into two part implicit and explicit.

Linear analysis- where stifness and mass is constant and no change in displacement so no velocity and acceleration.

Non-linear analysis:where the displacement of the body changes and due to this stifness also changes. It is divided into two- implicit and explicit.

Implicit- creep, quasi static analysis where change is very slow.

Explicit- fatigue, crush, fall etc where change is very fast. so time is very short in case of explicit.

  • Purpose

To find out various property of the product to make it safe e.g. car crash analysis, mobile drop analysis, bullet crash analysis.

Here we will discuss bullet crash analysis

  • How to do explicit analysis?

First drag explicit analysis

Draw the model in designmodular

open Model- after meshing we are giving boundary conditions- fixed support at the edge of the model

velocity 550m/s at -z direction

Then in the solution tab- total deformation , equivalent stress, directional deformation at z axis and equivalent strain.

Outputs:

Conclusion:

In explicit analysis we can find out the amount of energy , displacement , velocity and other properties of the model .
